Spring '10 Rush

The 2010 Spring Rush will kickoff this week with the information table and a BBQ on Taylor Mall this Wednesday starting at 11:30am. Come on by for some free hotdogs and discuss what opportunities await you as a future member of Theta Tau Fraternity, the first and foremost engineering fraternity!

Additional events such as info sessions, industry tours, engineering workshops, and game nights can be found on the rush calendar. We hope to see you all there!

Trick or Canning

in

Actives and pledges worked together going “trick or treating” for canned and dry goods. The event culminated in the collection of over a hundred and seventy pounds of dry goods that were donated to the United Food Bank.

Packages From Home

Members volunteered at packages from home, an organization that ships care packages to the troops. Members sorted food goods and helped pack boxes that were sent to the troops.

Adopt a Family

in

The chapter adopted a family of six this season, a mother her three sons and daughter and her baby. Gifts included clothes and shoes for every member of the family, as well as other essential items such as pots and pans and bath towels. Money left over went towards special gifts; board games and sports equipment for the boys and simple makeup and nail kits for the ladies.

Job Search Workshop

The professional development committee, in combination with the career services of ASU, held a job search workshop. The workshop’s aim was to further develop the attendee’s ability to find and acquire jobs. Joyce Donahue explained in great detail and clarity the essentials of job acquisition and research. The workshop helped in both job acquisition and ASU-Theta Tau relations. From these acquired and refined relations Theta Tau and the ASU career services will be looking to put on more workshops together in the near future.

Gold Canyon Candle Fundraiser

To raise money to help with chapter projects and events, actives and pledges sold Gold Canyon Candles to friends and family. Together over 600 dollars was raised. Thank you to everyone who participated and purchased candles.

Career Fair

in

Theta Tau actives and pledges volunteered at a career fair hosted by the Engineering Career Center on October 7th 2009. We had over 22 representatives who helped out throughout the whole event. It was a very successful day followed by interviews for many of the volunteers. Good luck to everyone who interviewed.

Rush

in

Rush this semester was very successful and tons of fun! Recruitment started early with quite a few members attending E2 camp over the summer and handing out information to incoming freshman. Once the school year started we kicked off strong with a free barbeque on campus where we gave away hotdogs and hamburgers to engineering students. In addition to the usual information meetings, game night, and speed interviews, several new events were added.

Health Committee

in

Throughout the semester, the Delta Gamma chapter has participated in a few sports events. This includes Flag Football, Volleyball and Soccer. We may not win to much, but we sure have fun. This events specifically, brings us together and work as a team.

We are currently playing Volleyball; just got done with the season and starting playoffs soon.

Rocket Launch

in

This semester a group of actives and alumni decided to build a rocket to get certified for our class one high powered rocketry license. They attended the launch on Oct.24th and built their rocket on site. On the second day, even with minor setbacks, they launched their rocket and achieved a height of around 3000 ft. There was a minor malfunction with the parachute but eventually it deployed for an almost perfect launch. It was a blast watching more than 400 rocket launches.
